so, my tech guys have been trying to replicate this problem but with no luck, I really could do with a dive into your config, could you PM me and lets do this:

enable the plugin on your site at a predetermined time, to get the error "live" and then we can run a fix for your site, once we've got that (might take an hour or so) we can roll it out to a new version of the plugin.

Let me know, send me a PM and we will arrange a convenient time to do it.

thanks!

Your plugin creates multiple outbound links to seoforums.org, and, it does not give notice that this will happen. Essentially every page that has a fuzzy seo tag block on it is linked to this forums URL.

Don't you think that this is deceptive behavior, and that it is improper? I certainly do.

What are your plans for eliminating these excessive outbound links, notifying users properly that they exist, or charging for a plugin with only a single outbound link per site?

Thanks for the plugin. I have it activated on my website, and while my site is still very young, and growing I hope that it will help me in my organic marketing campaign.

Hi Dennis,

its clearly labelled in wordpress that this plugin creates a link back to this site, and its why I provide the plugin free of charge. I also state in the readme that you can remove the links, but please link back to this site somewhere appropriate if you can.

If you dont want to link back at all, then thats your choice!

thanks

I think I have the general idea behind the plugin. Would it be possible to describe in a paragraph or two how this helps the search results? I understand how it places keywords on the page, but does this help with keyword density? Are these meta keywords placed on each page? I have this plugin on my relatively new blog, and I would just like to understand a little better how it works, so I can maximize its uses for my site.

Thanks!

Sure thing!

it works like this: google will a lot of the time "broad" match your site on search terms, (broad matching being wording borrowed from PPC, where the term that the person was actually searching for does NOT appear word for word on your website, but google still deems it somewhat relevant so it sends you the traffic anyway).

Your actual search engine position for these terms is likely to be lower than if it was an "exact match" for keywords on your site - which is where the plugin comes into its own.

Firstly a hypothetical:

The user is searching for "blue widgets in New York", you have a page on your blog dedicated to "New York Widget Manufacturers", whilest this isnt strictly what the person was looking for, its still pretty relevant, so google may return your site in 7th-10th position for the search (we are talking long tail here). The plugin then detects what the actual search term used was, and places it on your site.

The next time google spiders that page, it finds the exact term, and then places more relevance on your site, hence you will go from that 7th to 10th place up to 2nd/3rd, and you get more traffic!

This plugin does depend on:

Good, unique, well written content on your site, for google to start paying attention to it in the first place

As long as you have that, this plugin will increase the total traffic you get from the long tail over the course of a few weeks to months.

Thanks for the explanation. The idea behind the plugin makes sense. I put the plugin on right as I started my blog, so it will be difficult to tell if there is an increase in search, but I think it will help. The idea sounds pretty solid. Thanks for the plugin!

Well, just from experience I have it installed on 60+ sites of my own, all of which have seen some positive benefit, from 5% to 50% over the course of two to three months.

Im actually rebuilding it to get it working here on the forums as well, and its been installed on about 4,500 other websites as well, so I guess a lot of other people are happy with the idea as well!

be sure to let us know how it goes!

I've tried this plugin on my four WP sites, all running WP 2.9.1.

It puts the "no search" message in the sidebar window, so it must be set up correctly (I used the PHP code since my forum's themes were not designed with widgets in mind and nobody has been able to help me fix that). But it never updates, even when I have manually accessed the sites from a Google search. That work fine for me in vBulletin 4, but not in WP>

Can I have some help?

Peace,
Gene Steinberg

Hi Gene,

can you post me a link to your installation? (I might need login details as well to take a look under the hood, but I will let you know - and if needed PM me here on this forum)

thanks!

By the way, your forum isn't sending me email notices.

In any case check these:

www.technightowl.com
www.technightowl.com/newsletter
www.technightowl.com/radio
www.theparacast.com

Except for one item on the Archive pages of the last site, I see nothing but our default announcement, even after "goosing" it with direct links from Google.

Let me know if you need a login via PM.

Peace,
Gene
