Default Website speed affecting SEO (Matt Cutt)

Well this certainly is new, Google's Matt Cutt in his recent interview said that google has never before given importance to speed of website. But now its going to be one of important factor while considering Page Ranking & also Google’s much discussed Algorithm update (Caffeine), which was recently found to begin rolling out soon. Watch out guys google has added new rules to this game triumphing speed over relevant content? Well certainly relevant content will always be the prior thing to take into consideration while Ranking the site but what is there is two sites having same relevant content and backlinks certainly speed will be considered then...seeing that there are over 200 factors influencing Page Ranking, where does Speed matter for Page Ranking in google ranks? , its become more interesting and you need to be a pro to play it. The speed of a website is now considered a ranking factor - but only in the negative sense (allegedly) for instance, if your website renders slowly to users, it may get penalized by google, as they feel (correctly) that people dont want to be waiting round for ever for their pages to appear.

Therefore, make sure that your website is the quickest loading out of the top 10 for your target search terms!

That optimization I recently carried out right here on seoforums.org - and this site is now the fastest loading for the search term "seo forum". The results are too early to take anything from, but at the very least the bounce rate has decreased, which in my book is worth it anyway.

Speed of the site is very important. If it is not opening quickly then user will close the site and it is not good news. For high page rank speed is also useful because if your site is not opening quickly, traffic will decrease and page rank will also.

Despite being more work for people that promote websites online, it's good to see that Google is always working on improving their search engine. A slow site should be ranked lower as it's usually less helpful for users.

    hello,
thanks for sharing this, but what about myspace comments site which i have. i mean picture does take time to load. but which time span will google consider right as a fast loading site? some sites have little scripts which shows that site has opened in these seconds. will it be helpful for this or the whole site downloading time will be count.??

Well Arbaz it does not matter if you have pictures on your site, it depends on your hosting server speed. If you are using a good hosting server your site is likely to load quicker. And google does take whole site into consideration while labeling it.
