Many search engines include a criterion for the number of times users click on web sites that are returned in search results. Then redouble those efforts as soon as the site goes live for the public.

The alternative tags - called alt tags - display a text description of the graphic or picture, so that even if the actual image does not appear, there is some explanation of what should be there. Alt tags are a good place to include additional keywords which you conjure. Getting search engines to recognize and index of your website can be a problem, as the first part of this chapter makes clear. Another huge problem is that it has a little or nothing to do with the technological limitations of search engines and many companies have no idea what keywords (the words people are using to search for Web sites at the search engines) they should be using. They try to guess the appropriate keywords, without knowing what people are really using in the search engines to locate them.
Website Optimization is all about creating a site that is reachable by most search engines and search directories. It sounds simple enough, but there are many approaches of Website Optimization to consider, and not all of them are about the keywords, links, or HTML tagging of your website.
