Hmmm sounds like you are just putting your URL for clicks here.Your site is already PR6 and got more than 5K links so I wonder if you doesn't know link building yet. If you don't, I suggest to make more related contents on its page because it seems that you only got 1 page indexed by google so far.

Yes sure the number of links you require to gain a good position for the keywords you are targeting depends very much on the competion you are up against for those Kewords It is fairly Simple to rank high when there is little competition. Informed keyword analysis is important as you may find longtail keywords that your competition isn't targeting that will bring good traffic

I think its already popular because its general motors blog and brand itself but for gain link popularity unique content is important.
