Default Google loves fresh content

Google seems to avoid stale content. Give the Googlebot something new to read on each visit and my experience has shown that it will be back often.
If you're a "little guy", just getting ready to launch a new site, I have two suggestions-

1. Spend some time building the site before you start publishing it. So many people rush to put their "home page" out there hoping to get indexed quickly. This is a big mistake in my opinion. Make sure you have at least 10 - 20 pages of unique content before you launch your site. You will be much better off if you can have more content right at launch.

2. If you want the site to actually draw traffic, plan to add new content as often as possible. I try and add a minimum of 5 new pages a week to my primary sites. Obviously the more pages the better, but I'm not a full time SEO or web designer and have to be realistic. Set a schedule to add content that's do-able for you and stick to it.

If you follow these suggestions at the end of year one you'll have a site with 250 - 300 pages of original content. While surely not the largest on the web, if you target your keywords well in your copy a site of this size should help you start drawing some relevant traffic from the search engines. Keep this up and after 3 years you will have a site with close to 1,000 pages that should be drawing a fair amount of relevant search engine traffic.

Did I mention Google likes fresh content? :-)

I totally agree except that when you do any kind of search, Google's results are always spammy...it makes me question the whole thing.

Hi Emma, nice tips indeed. However, I do not understand point 1, I mean let's say you launch a new website in the wild and Google indexes only those 2-3 pages you have. But adding new content daily doesn't mean almost the same thing? You launch it and even if it's quite empty you'll fill it in time, and that's something Google likes.

It's tough to do, but regularly adding new GOOD content is a must if you want your site to grow.
Note that I said GOOD content. Throwing up spam on a regular basis won't help. Google is smart enough to figure that out.
When you're writing, write for visitors not just search engines.

The “Googlebot” that crawls the web is constantly searching for web pages that are new or updated and then adds the fresh content to the Google index. If you update your content often with reliable and valuable information, then you have a better chance of Google ranking your site higher with each update.

Agree with you. Forums are not the good place for press release!

And agree with the topic starter, Google does consider Fresh content as a signal of ranking factors.

This is what I've been doing....

Four articles per week. Hopefully, by the end of the year, another 120 articles.

I would think that there would be some Google love because of the fresh content, but it would be coupled with an increase in long-tail keywords for a double whammy!

Google does indeed like fresh content. No argument there. However, to have a site rank high just because it has fresh content over a site that has fresh content and older site age is another matter. Google does have very active bots, however, if your content, no matter how fresh is not indexed well for whatever your main keyword focus is, then just having the bot come back every day doesn't do you much good. Update your sites regularly, build back links, keep pages narrowly keyword targeted, use internal anchor text links to describe your site etc etc. All of it matters.

Between two sites with all factors being even, a site that has fresh content, keyword relevance, etc, the site that has longer visitor duration, and is older will rank higher in the SERPS.

Google always love the fresh content as these are the unique contents. So all these fresh contents are really helpful for the indexing the site. Also visitors only look for the fresh contents in website.

Quality content is the way to go. Never copy other people's content. Spend your time writing one quality article rather than 5 spammy or 'filler' articles. You are more likely to get back links and a better reputation.
