Default 2 Things to Avoid When Link Building

As SEO specialists, we always keep a keen eye on links. And we always try to accumulate and build links for our website. We find good, relevant and high quality sites to get or ask links from, then we do our stuff. But we should also know the things we have to avoid when we're building links.

    Here's the resource article:

great article and really very nice blog... I actually bookmarked it and keep visiting for more updates... anyway, I agree with the two things to avoid. my question is, do you still look for the PR of the site? what if, the site is dofollow and with less outbound links, but it is unranked?

    Thanks PokerJoker!
Honored that you bookmarked the blog and that you're a frequent visitor! Maybe you want to contribute an article or two? Haha!
My counter-question to your question would be: Does PR really matter to you? ALL WEBSITES WILL RANK SOONER OR LATER when their links mature right? For me, I'd still wager for getting links from unranked websites so long as it's do follow, low out bound links, relevant and is updated.

Link building to website is a very long process but worth to bet!, all quality link building will cost you, start off with free web directories which allow and accept links , once your website is listed in the directories, your always assured of back-links which will give your website a better rank and PR . for example: www.madhupanditdasa.info. www.akshayapatra.org which i have been continuously working on to build quality links

    Hello,

Thank you for the link, very good article.
My question to you, in your opinion what do you find more resourceful, having links embedded in articles on sites like ezine/article base/go articles etc., having links from relevant websites, links from forum writing, or links from blog postings?

    Thanks man
In my opinion the best is links from blog postings (your own blogposts) then forums. ezine articles is last. It should always be from relevant websites. Active ones are better - such as this forum.

Yeah it seems you're working your ass off putting a lot of links in this post that doesn't seem too relevant to the thread and is self-serving

It'll work. Plain and simple. Better if you make great articles - people will naturally link to them. You need to have a lot of time, effort and topics or people to do this

    Hey, dudes

Here are some often mistakes webmasters usually have:

    1. Quantity over quality

If one link is great, then five links is better, right? Not so fast. Search engines place a lot of emphasis on the quality of the links. A link from a popular site is much better than 20 links from low quality, spammy sites. In fact, no amount of low quality links can be as effective as a link from an authority site in your niche.
You could even get penalized for having too many low quality links. Don’t take the easy way out. Go after quality links and ignore low quality sites in your link building efforts. Think of it this way: the harder it is to get a link, the more effective that link will be. Do the hard work (networking, creating great content, guest posting, etc.) to get those links from quality sites.

    2. Not using relevant anchor text

If someone links to you without them asking, don’t ask them to change their anchor text. That’s annoying and bad practice. They already linked to you. No need to bug them. But if you submit an article to an article directory or write a guest post, you’ll usually have control of your anchor text.
Many people will link using the titles of your pages, so try to add keywords in your titles.
Also, don’t use the same anchor text for each link. If you vary your anchor text, you’ll rank for more keywords.

    3. Only linking to the home page

If you just link to the home page, then your home page will have a chance at good rankings. But what about the other pages on your site?
Each page including the home page can only target a few keywords effectively. You need links to the other pages to rank for a lot of keywords.
Also, I like getting links to the other pages since they are usually better pages for your visitors to land on. The other pages have more specific information than the home page and that information can make a great first impression to your visitors.
Finally, it can be easier to get a link to the other pages. For example, you could create a really great piece of content, give it its own page, and then email other webmasters and ask them to link to it if they like it. This could be hard to do for the home page.

    Cheers
