Thumbs up Sites install in folder as: http://domain.com/applies/ site installed in apples

I've been building my sites inside a folder of the core domain.

I'm trying to improve SEO of the sites, but I'm not sure if this is an issue or not.

I do have to create a redirect either in a php file or the cpanel to point to the site.

I prefer to do this, because it saves me work and does isolate issues better in some cases.

I'm not opposed to installing in the public_html or www folder, if it will help.

I've been reading and read where the spiders don't like the redirects, but I'm stepping up from the core domain into a folder.
I'm not going to another dedicated domain address.

I'd appreciate to read some thoughts on this.

    THanks

I found an SEO redirect test tool, which indicates what I'm doing is SEO friendly.
