I have conflicting info about how long a page title can be before it is truncated on a SERP. To my understanding I thought it was 70 characters, but recently I have heard that it is 65?

I searched one of our website in google. In the search results, Google seemed to display less than 70 characters. So, I guess we should come up with a catchy title tag in 65 characters or less including spaces.

Yes you have heard write. 65 characters are ideal for title.

I usually look at title before clicking on the link, intriguing, catchy or something that may arise our curiosity is what we need to come up to generate more clicks

Yes I do believe it is 65, I have never heard of 70, usually chops of anything over 65.

Google will index up to 1129 characters in the title, it will display up to 65 in the SERPs.

Best to keep it short and sweet however, you don't really want your title to be a mini essay.

there is nothing to worry about it, the more important is that there is your important keyword, as it gives a good ranking factor.

Don't be haunted by the number of characters. Just write about 8-12 words! ;-)

I agree, just write a good title that will drive traffic to your site. Dont be so concerned about character count.

I am using 70 characters in title and 140 for description to avoid truncation in SERPs.

I think 65 characters is best for title but on the other hand i also agree with

I've been told and read in books that 65 is the ideal length including spaces the reason being is that search engines will truncate the page title to this length in the browers. I believe Google truncates the page title to the nearest complete word though.

Forgot to say that it's also best to list the keywords in the title in order of importance.

For google its 95 character count including spaces.

Use Seo Site Tools plugins in google chrome you will see if your title is good enough to show in SERPs.

65 character title is ideal but if you will take 70 character title still there is no problem but not more than that.

Yea it's from 65 to 70 for ideal title. But I think more important is the quality not the quantity

The title is being count by characters and limited with characters not with words. That is why you should really care on how many characters you have rather than how many words because it depends on you on how descriptive your title would be in just a specific number of characters and how it would benefit your site.

Title of any web page should be 65 character and make sure your title is not more than 65 Characters because Google crawl only 65 character after that doesn't crawl.
