The right keyword placement (meta-tags, H1 and such) and adding a site map. This makes it easier for search engine spiders to crawl every nook and cranny of your site.

You need to take care of few points while doing on page SEO:

    - Proper Keyword Research
    - Content Optimization
    - Prepare Meta tags
    - Keyword Density should be 3-5%
    - Use H1 - H6 tags

    1. Chose 3 more-competitive terms to optimize the page for – According to the research I did, there is less competition for the new terms than the old one, and even though the 3 new ones have a lower search volume, the ratio of volume to competition is better, which hopefully will make the page rank better on the new keywords.
    2. Followed this list for the “perfectly” optimized page as closely as humanly possible – I made sure all 3 terms were first in both the title and in the H1 tags. I also repeated each key phrase 2 to 3 times in the page body copy, trying to make it sound natural and not like it was written by the software robot the Chinese use to write their English instruction manuals.
    3. Put 3 images on the page, each named after one of the 3 keywords, i.e., keyword1.jpg, keyword2.jpg, keyword3.jpg – I also put the words in the image “alt” and “title” attributes.
    4. Made sure to write a good meta description tag – Even though I’ve read that the meta description tag has nothing to do with how the page ranks, a good description will entice more people to click. After all, what’s the use of ranking 50th if no one will click your link?
    5. Put the keywords I’d optimized for in the meta keywords tag – Everything I’ve seen about this tag states pretty emphatically that it is officially dead, that no engines use it anymore to determine rank. However, in this “Best SEO Practices for Newbies” post, the suggestion is made to include it anyway because it helps you remember what key terms the page is optimized for. Very clever! Having it in certainly won’t HURT the page rank. It’s like this tag has now been demoted to an internal comments field or something.

Okay about sitemaps, what if you are running a store using a php script? My script didn't have any rss feed so I created one and embedded it into the homepage and each products description (even though the rss links only go one level deep into categories and not to the actual products descriptions themselves). There are literally thousands of pages! So what can I do next? Thanks, Dave

Page optimization means tuning or optimizing a webpage to perform better in a search engine for one or more keywords. And to improve rank one should:
    • Choose 3 more-competitive terms to optimize the page for.
    • Followed this list for the “perfectly” optimized page.
    • Put 3 images on the page, each named after one of the 3 keywords.
    • Made sure to write a good Meta description tag.
    • Put the keywords I’d optimized for in the Meta keywords tag.
    These are essential points.

    hi sir
Online advertising leader Google Inc. said Friday it would help make it less lucrative to tie up millions of Internet addresses using a loophole and keep those domain names from legitimate individuals and businesses.Over the next few weeks, Google will start looking for names that are repeatedly registered and dropped within a five-day grace period for full refunds.
    thanks
