I agree. I just think saying it's "the best" is very dishonest. For example, you might get far more traffic from a well targeted blog post on a popular site.

No, I do believe you have it wrong here. Forum posting is a great way to drive traffic to your website for other forum members but maybe not the best way for keywords and such. A few ways to for good optimization are forum profiles, blog commenting, directory, and article links will help out your website.

Think very carefully for a thread title that will engage readers, that will accumulate thousands of readers over time, content that people duplicate in their own post and lots of thanks and responses.

This will keep those links in your signatures alive and on fire, the more popular thread, page, link etc.

I would also agree that, forum posting is not the best factor for driving traffic... even source of backlinks are not very powerful. yes, you can get a lot of backlinks from forum postings, but the value it gives doesn't help much.

I must conclude one most important for this thread and that is about on-site optimization, the question by the person was "How i will do perfect optimization".
So my dear friend, to do perfect site optimization, you should know very well for what you want visitors to reach your site through organic searches.

Try to use CSS on your site and should me XHTML strict.
Avoid contents that could eat up page loading time.
Optimize your images by using they proper name, if the image is of a cell phone, then use the make and model name in the image file name.
Use keyword name in directories and files names.
For example : my-domain dot com/nokia/nokia-e71-mobile-phone.html

If you are using long url names then make use of cannonical urls
For example : my-domain dot com/nokia/nokia-e71-mobile-phone

AVOID USING USELESS FILE AND DIRECTORY NAMES ! Example: my-domain dot com/products/product1.html is just useless in SEO.

FIRST DO KEYWORD RESEARCH !
If you want a visitor to reach your site by the key phrase "cell phone deals" then you must have the key phrase "cell phone deals" in title, description and keyword tag.

This is not yet done, you must also have "cell phone deals" in your body contents as well.
Use H1 tag "cell phone deals", h2 tag "cell phone deals in Karachi at discount price", h3 tag will contain all about the offer, you can use paragraph tag instead of h3 tag if you dont want to use h3, this will not effect your on site seo.

Most most important, use "cell phone deals" as a link on your site but the density should not exceed, otherwise your site will be penalized by search engines.

There are many factors in seo which you have to take care of. Each and every of your page should contain the keyphrase "cell phone deals" which should target your main site, eg : my-domain dot com

So the keyphrase "cell phone deals" was just an example.
You should also make sure that the keyphrase should be used a number of times in each place on your site.

If you are targeting to a particular location, lets say US or Canada, you must make use of zip, counties, stats and cities to which you are targeting. Make use of geo meta tags if you are targeting a particular country.

For targeting countries other than US or Canada, use their city names and off course their area names.

For example my name is Arsalan, live Karachi and i am an architect so I want people to reach my social profile, website or blog, dont think they wont search for arsalan, they will, after many search results display, they will minimize it, they will use Arslan architect, ok many results lets minimize again. they will search for "arsalan architect in Karachi", now the narrow list will actually let them reach my profile, blog or website if I have used my name, occupation and city.

So you have to care care about many factors.

Forum posting, blog commenting and other link building techniques are great for traffic but also make sure that if you want to target a particular keyword, lets say "seoforums", then use "seoforums" in the name text box and in the website write your domain name.
In this way you will get traffic, improvement in ranking, hits, and your will start getting on top in search engines for the keyword "seoforums".

Remember that, more traffic leads to increase in ranking and more business.

Forum posting is really nice but you can't say you can get every backlink through it. I love to contribute in forums that's why i am constituting. You will get number of backlink. It is really beneficial to contribute in high PR but other techniques are also necessary for Better Off page Optimization.
