from my websites point of view the more related content on my page the higher the rank on yahoo.... google looks more at related link backs to your site.

if you rank well on Yahoo, it doesn't mean that you will also a good rankings on Google. they have different algorithms and some factors in ranking websites relevancy on the keyword.
In my opinion, Google is more on the on page of the website. The keyword placement - your keyword should be placed on the title, header, url, tags, and equally important on the content.
From my experience, backlinks are calculated much differently by yahoo than google. google also pays more attention to on-page optimization than yahoo. I would suggest improving your on-page optimization and secure more RELAVENT backlinks from high ranking websites to your site.
Hello Dear,
Sound is good that your website is ranking in yahoo. if you want to get the keyword ranking in search engine Google then i will suggest you that please get more quality high page rank links with less out bound links on the page. i sure you will get ranking very soon in Google.

Maybe you mean "Google also pays more attention to off-page optimization"? Because off-site is more important for Google.
Yahoo has different criteria of ranking website and google different. I am doing proper online marketing for my website link quality backlinks, email marketing, blog commenting, forums etc and my website doing well in both search engines.
Yahoo has a different set of metrics and priorities when calculating your rank on the SERPs.
Google focuses on off-page criteria, while Yahoo! pays more attention to your on-page stuff.
To rank high in Google your number 1 priority is to build up a solid link profile, while in Yahoo you must tune up your site to meet this search engine requirements. Keyword density is still very important to Yahoo and it's rather high (like 5-10%) whereas Google is fine with 1-2%![]()
